Medior Delivery Manager

Summary

Atos is growing the capabilities of its UK Public Sector to work with our clients on the digital transformation journey.  The role will work as part of a multiple disciplinary teams ensuring the accelerated application development across our clients.

Your day-to-day responsibilities include:

The Delivery Manager will work with Developers to contribute to the following generic team responsibilities as and where appropriate:

  • Owning the collaborative, dynamic planning process to establish roadmaps – prioritising the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team.
  • High level requirements and change requests are established, technical options are identified, estimates are provided, and impact assessments informed in line with the Digital Service Standard.
  • Technical stories defined and non-technical stories refined (working collaboratively with the BA)
  • Security level, legal responsibilities, privacy issues and risks associated with the service are addressed
  • Areas of technical risk are identified and de-risked with technical spikes
  • Coaching delivery and support teams in agile ways of working and ceremonies, self-organisation. Definition of “ready” (for development) and “done” are defined.
  • Being responsible for matrix-managing a multidisciplinary team of architects and leading engineers to work with our customers to understand their requirements, design solutions and support their implementation.
  • Being responsible for team planning, resourcing and status updates and be responsible for ensuring efficiency targets and financial budgets are met continually.
  • Responsible for hiring and management of the team, partner relationships, reporting to a wider organisation. Support the team’s delivering value.
  • Service integration approach established (with the products), where applicable. -Hosting and service wrapper requirements are defined.
  • Build a great place to work, with a culture of learning and continuous improvement, through great people skills, mentoring, engagement and development of skills.
  • Responsible for ensuring all people processes and policies are adhered to, such as performance management, opportunities to develop staff, team management.

Working practices:

The Delivery Manager will champion the following working practices ensuring adoption by Developers and other members of the team:

  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using Agile principles and other methodologies in a way which aligns with the values and goals of the project and wider organisation.
  • Work with service managers, product owners and business analysts to identify and define user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate with other developers on the team in ensuring that reuse of components is maximised, and development effort is minimised.
  • Collaborate with the team’s UX Designer, Content Designer and User Researcher to build web interfaces that satisfy user needs.
  • Maintain and encourage high standards of practice.
  • Be responsible for their work from design to post-deployment support
  • Use their expertise to guide and shape the design of the product-Keep a user focused mind-set and consider the impact of their work on the user’s experience-Spread their knowledge through the team
  • Take technical direction and guidance from their team’s Architect and Tech Lead
  • Take design direction and guidance from their team’s Solution Architect, UX Designer and User Researcher
  • Support the activities of the project teams as necessary to prepare for any necessary gating and assurance processes
  • experience of delivering working in a large-scale software delivery and support organisation. Running multiple development teams in waterfall, DevOps and Agile to deliver to pressing deadlines and continuous support in production.
  • Experience of matrix managing technical teams and people, with responsibility for financial forecasting and reporting and adhering to these targets.
  • Delivered multiple successful projects within quality, time and budget.
  • Production of Roadmaps using input from development teams and product owners and communication of estimates and timescales to customers.
  • Use of collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, Slack, Trello.
  • Agile certification, strong motivation, mentoring and coaching skills to guide and support teams in the use of agile.
  • Has demonstrated the ability to cut through unnecessary work and focus only on essential work.
  • Good judgment and ability to prioritise vigilantly.
  • A high level of flexibility in order to accept change and reduce unnecessary confusion and risk.
  • Share Experiences and Encourages Collaboration in team.

Person Specification

The Delivery Manager should demonstrate experience of the following:

  • Manage software development using various agile and lean techniques-Guide and coach a multi-disciplinary team ensuring agile best practices are used to deliver high quality products and services.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with the official Scrum guide and other methodologies.
  • Use Jira and similar tools, including familiarity with sprint boards, ticket types, workflow, labels, components, releases.
  •  Run ceremonies, including having techniques for running retrospectives and use of associated tools
  • Facilitate story refinement and story point estimating.
  • Create and maintain documentation in Confluence and similar tools-Manage sprints running inside program me increments.
  • Be articulate and demonstrate strong communication skills.

Manage software releases using:

  • traditional gate-approval based deployment
  • modern continuous integration/continuous deployment methods.
  • Able to undertake and successfully gain SC level security clearance checks. 

 

Nice to Have:

  • Designing and delivering end-to-end digital products in government, demonstrated through passing Government Digital Service (GDS) assessments at every stage of GDS agile delivery framework
  • User-Centred Design Services which can be demonstrated through successful project delivery and the achievement of key success measures for projects
  •  PSM Certification
