Principal Project Manager

Vacancy Type: Contract (PAYE)

Location: Remote based / south west clients

Duration: 5-6 months

Rate: £600-650/day + expenses

 

The Role:

• Leading one or more teams at a time to successfully deliver on customer solutions 

• To manage engagements contracted to central government customers. Projects range from staff augmentation advice and guidance through to cloud developments

• Managing a range projects with a focus on Microsoft infrastructure technologies. 

• Manage issues and be the customer’s point of contact for transition activities

• Ensuring adherence to cost, schedule and scope constraints by tracking budget and forecast utilizing a formal Statement of Work (SOW) 

• Responsible for assisting customers who are delivering projects with the implementation of the test strategy by giving feedback to the project team regarding the findings, problems encountered and define an action plan for their solution 

• Carry out knowledge transfer during the project to the clients where they are delivering projects and according to what is defined in the scope 

• Indispensable to have personal interaction skills to bring to the management of relationship with the client and stakeholders of the project in an effective way 

• Identify risks before they occur; develop and communicate relevant mitigation and avoidance strategies

• Advocating adherence to industry standard processes 

• Providing actionable coaching feedback to team members to foster continuous improvement

 

Experience Required:

• Senior/Principal Programme/ Project Manager with 8+ years’ experience

• Experience project managing / leading Enterprise consulting projects of up to 1m+ (euros or GBP) 

• Recent experience with Cloud Modernization, Security, Application Dev or AI transformation projects

• Ensure adherence to cost, schedule, and scope constraints, while focusing on the customer satisfaction

• Identify risks before they occur; develop and communicate relevant mitigation and avoidance strategies

• Strong scope management, dealing with proper change control when required

• Must demonstrate the ability to manage a consulting contract and strong administrative and financial management skills.

• Ideally has worked in a consulting organisation in the past. 

 

Desirable skills

• PMP certification with real-world experience, additional certifications are an advantage 

• Demonstrated effectiveness in leading teams (when you lead, do people follow?) 

• Broad understanding and experience with the Microsoft platform or equivalent 

• Skills in Azure DevOps or equivalent, and Microsoft Project 

• Create and maintain accurate forecast of cost/hours and ensure projects complete within approved budget 

• Maintain delivery excellence by submitting weekly internal status report

• Travel to customer sites might be required (up to 25-50% travel expectations)

 

Soft skills:

 Ability to quickly establish relationships and credibility with customers 

 Confidence in creating and delivering presentations

 Confidence to hold challenging business conversations at all levels

 Ability to build trust and drive change with customers

 Ability to learn new technologies quickly through self-learning

 Excellent organisation and planning skills
