Role 

The Risk Manager role is to ensure the smooth running and facilitation of the total risk management process, including the regular reporting procedures. The Risk Manager will head up establishing and continuing to support all joint risk management engagements between ESUK and its customers. 

Responsible for ensuring the risk process on all projects is being followed and is in regular contact with the Project Controllers responsible for each Programme and each Project Manager. 

The Risk Manager also liaises with our key customer, the MOD, and each of the sub-contractors, co-ordinated by the appropriate Sub-contract Manager, who will also be required to participate in the Risk Management activities 

The Risk Manager will be the Subject matter expert for the PMO team across the whole business on all sites and will also provide support and guidance regarding our Corporate Risk Process and be the focal point for our Risk Management tool vendor. 

 

Responsibilities include:  

  • Developing the risk processes and procedures  

  • Ensuring that an appropriate Risk Management Plan is in place and updated where necessary. 

  • Ensuring that the risk process is appropriate and workable 

  • Support bids by preparation of a ROMP and an initial Risk Register 

  • Ensuring that the key stakeholders are aware of any issues which may jeopardize the successful operation of the risk process. 

  • Eliciting risk information from both the MOD and sub-contractor project teams. 

  • Overseeing and monitoring the organisation’s chosen risk management system (Risk Predict!) and be the administrator of the toolset. 

  • Working with the tool provider to manage future releases / upgrades / enhancements of the toolset 

  • Reviewing all risk status reports and updates from the Project teams / sub-contractors and advising on any points of issue. 

  • Supporting the Schedule Risk Analyses and/or Cost Risk Analysis (to be undertaken by the ESUK PMO Team) 

  • Attending or providing inputs to the Programme Risk Review Panel Meetings. 

  • Provide update risk information for the Senior Management Team (Exec level) monthly Exec meeting, and management the Enterprise Risk Register. 

  • Any additional tasks to ensure the success of the role and support to the Business Unit within ESUK.

  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of project management processes and practices  

  • Ability to demonstrate a good knowledge and experience of risk management processes and practices  

  • Experience in managing Risk Maturity Assessments, familiarization with Optimism Bias analysis techniques, experience in contributing to a company-wide Risk Management Framework 

  • Understanding of Project management principles. 

  • Association Risk Management qualification (or by experience) 
    Experience in presenting data to both internal and external customers

  • Understanding of Project management principles. 

  • Some Knowledge of commercial and defence programmes. 

  • Experience of working in a multi-national, multi-organisational and corporate environment. 

  • Experience of bid capture 

  • Knowledge of the UK MoD process and procedures. 

  • Practical ‘hands on’ attitude with the ability to operate independently.
