Senior Angular Developer

Summary

Atos is expanding the capabilities in the Public Sector to work with our clients on the digital transformation journey.  The lead developer will work as part of a multiple disciplinary team ensuring the accelerated establishment of a DevOps culture & capabilities across our clients, as well as supporting more traditional applications development and support.  The role holder will work alongside DevOps engineers, application architects and cloud architects with clients to understand their requirements, propose solutions, oversee the implementation and then provide continued advice and guidance to the delivery teams once up and running. The role will also assess and uplift skills and support the embedding of new practices in the teams to further the client’s digital journey.  

The specific opportunity you will be joining us to support will be for our customer HMRC within their Digital Delivery Centres.  

We are a delivery consortium comprising Atos, Mercator, Opencast, and EY, with Atos as prime, and we are jointly committed to working in an inclusive and collaborative way to ensure the delivery of outcomes for our customer HMRC. Our joint purpose is to provide HMRC with Agile Software Development and Delivery Teams that will extend and enhance HMRC’s technical capability and capacity to respond to increasing demands across the department, delivering transformation of their existing services and making them more accessible and intuitive for citizens. 

Your day-to-day responsibilities include: 

  • Implementation of frontend& backend systems for our clients 

  • Quality assurance and code reviews of existing codebases 

  • Participation in Agile ceremonies 

  • Coaching development team 

  • Quality assurance and code reviews of existing codebases 

  • Discussing requirements with Clients

Skills we can’t do without: 

For this assignment we are ideally looking for SFIA4developers who are experienced using Scala and the Play! Framework to develop cloud based micro service architecture services with both HTML web frontends and JSON APIs. Alternatively we are prepared to take on experienced Java developers with a view to cross training to Scala 

  • Significant Experience (6+ years) in 

  • Front End web development focusing on Angular, TypeScript, HTML5 & JavaScript 

  • C# & .Net  

  • NoSQL databases (MongoDB) 

Or 

  • Java/JEE 

  • Relational databases (Oracle , MySQL ,SQL Server) 

Alongside 

  • HTML, CSS and JavaScript 

  • Version control (Git & GitHub, DevOps) 

  • Postman 

Experience in the following: 

  • Worked within multidisciplinary teams in an Agile and DevOps environment. 

  • Experience delivering solutions confirming to Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) 

  • Developing micro-services in a container environment using Docker, 

Kubernentes & AKS 

  • Setting up of development environments in Continuous Integration with a code repository.  

  • Creating specifications and design of applications to meet defined business and user needs, demonstrating a strong understanding of what the user pain points are and outcomes.  

  • Defining the security enforcing measures to meet client’s stringent security requirements, including OWASP top 10 and authorisation technologies.  

  • Proven experience of implementing unit testing of software, behaviour-Driven Development and/or Test-Drive Development.  

  • Background in the development of Restful Web Services.  

  • Use of Azure cloud & API services to deliver applications.  

  • Use of Database services including – Azure SQL and CosmosDB 

  • Solid understanding of CI/CD, experience with Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Azure Cloudshell and ARM templates. 

  • Problem-solving skills and ability collaborate with developers to overcome development and operational issues.  

  • Good communication  

  • Able to undertake and successfully gain SC level security clearance checks.  

Nice to have: 

  • Wider experience in front end web development frameworks 

  • Experience with Scala and the Play! Framework 

  • Experience in Python, Ruby, Node.JS and Go.  

  • Experience with J2EE, Jave 2 Platform Enterprise edition 

  • PSM Certification (SCRUM Master) 

  • Experience delivering within SAFe programmes 

  • Understanding how to build observable applications 

  • Experience working in Central Government, Military or Police accounts.
